copied Post from yesterday on our local golf forum by a fellow in WA....suspect we see much more of this over time
"We just lost 90% of our courses in WA this weekend.
It was mandated that you could only play in a group of 2 or more if you lived with the people, so clubs were basically left with singles.
Bars and clubhouses had already been shutdown, rakes removed, ball washers removed, drink fountains covered up. Pool noodles cut and placed in cups so the ball could be retrieved after holing out without touching the flag.
A couple of courses have stayed open, with heavily reduced rates.
There could be some courses that fold as all but the big privates have been in less than ideal financial circumstances for a while.
My club is selling off all of their excess alcohol tomorrow, giving the extra food to charity and rental a storage unit for all of the club valuables, trophies etc. Sounds like it is going to be quite a while before we can re-open.
The big decision will be what to do with our monthly dues. The club has asked that we keep paying them as our cash reserves are not strong, but how long would you do this for?"
