TM Rac irons worth $65?

Saw some good condition Racs 4-PW at an estate sale. Worth it? Anybody played these irons? What do you think of them?

no firsthand experience but I do remember they were pretty popular in their day. hell, pull the trigger man!

If the shafts are something you'd use, I'd definitely pull the trigger. Even if they're not, and the heads look good, you're paying less than $10 a head for a popular set of irons. It's not like you'd lose much.

I had a 6 RAC OS to try and thought it was very nice look, feeling, very for giving high easy control. Thought of getting a set seriously but didn't find one, got Ping shovels instead . I thought ultra light steel shafts were extra good for my swing .

What model of TM RAC ? RAC MB, MB combo,OS 2005 OS, LT.. ?
Personally, I did not like the TM Ultra lite steel shaft, only had experience in the stiff flex so I could not say this with experience for the R flex steel. I was having trouble making good contact with the long irons, mostly thin shots with the light weight steel and overall static weight.
The Rifle 6.0 in another set was golden in my pre injury years. The flighted 6.0 was nice.
At $65 for 4-PW, with nice condition will be a no brainer, I would not get it if it's very experienced.

Check the shafts to see if any was bent, especially near the hosel, some of these lite weight shafts will bend near the hosel.

Today, I missed a set of Maltby KE4 I believe it was, to a guy beat it to me by 5 min. 4-9 at $7.99 per.

Well,I went back and picked them up. For the money, they also threw in two Cleveland Launcher fairway woods in good shape and a titleist driver, so I think it was a reasonable deal.
I didn't see until after I had bought them that they are the Rac HT, but they are in good shape. I'll get them to the range and see how they feel. If I decide they are not for me, I can probably unload them for at least what I paid. And the launcher fairway woods look really sweet.

HT is the best G.I. model from the RAC family.
Probably has the uniflex steel shafts in them which in my opinion is better than the TM ultra lite.

while you were there, why didn't they throw in the rest of the bag for $65 ? :-)

Took them to the range this afternoon. Already put em into my bag. Pretty sweet. Accurate and repeatable. Hoping these will improve my GIR.

They have the Rifle shafts in them?

I dunno. They're very light and they're stepless. Did they often come with Rifles?

Yes. My TM320 irons came stock with Rifle shafts

My RAC MB came with rifle 6.0 and it has the shaft band. I could not call it "light" weighted but it is certainly lighter than the TTDG S-300.

It could be Rifle or TT or any of the OEM whom makes stepless steel.
Most likely a special order for Taylor with lighter weight. No way to know unless it was marked with shaft band or look for markings under the grip.
No silk screen on the Shaft itself ?

It has a shaft band and it says it's a TM shaft.

Took the clubs out for nine holes yesterday evening and hit some solid shots. Need to get used to the distances, but I think these are going to work.

Adjusting to the distance is a piece of cake, nice find.

Proved there is hope for the older golf clubs.
I took out the Titleist 905R yesterday and it was fun , as long as the other drivers and I liked the trajectory. Easier to work the direction but less forgiving ( just a smidge of it ).

Which model year was it ? Pre-2005. 2005 ? What kind of shafts ?
