Weirfan If par didn't matter
It does to those guys though, not so much us. I don't care if someone playing for $20M purses shoots +10 or -40. It still requires the same skill. Clubs still have to be determined for each specific shot, then the shot has to be executed best as can be.
I haven't looked, but I imagine the majority of the Pro golfers eligible to play every week, cannot carry that 300 yds.. So now, they want to penalize that group more? From the same tee areas as they are currently using? 550 yd. Par 5 hole just got longer, when they could barely reach in 2 prior. The 'elite' will still blow past that green in 2.
And they are wanting to do the ball, restricting distance from it. Not clubs. Not those 3wds they are now hitting almost 300 off the turf.
It's not so much we amateurs/rec golfers care or don't care, what about those short hitters on the PGA already? Hell yes, they care. The gap will widen further.
I'll play, for nothing, with whatever 'legal' balls I have to buy.

Weirfan ANGC has increased the length of #13 by what some 55 yards and the course itself by 600 or so.
I've always felt that was the wrong way to go about things, like many others also think. More water and grass will take the need for more acreage off the agenda. Quit cutting those limbs so players can play from under/around every tree. The course will still be the envy of all others. Esp. when all others are doing the same and should be.
