ode I don't mind the larger gaps on the long irons either, because those larger gaps means I get about 15 more yards out of my #5 than I did with my previous #5, while my #8 is still my 150-155 club.
Regarding the high COR irons being more forgiving, why do you think that? The only thing the high COR face does is increase the ball speed coming off the face, I don't see how that could contribute to making the club more forgiving. Unless, maybe due to the thinner (and therefore most likely lighter weight) face, it results in the head having more weight around the perimeter which would indeed increase the forgiveness for off-center hits. Interesting thought, I'll have to ask Tom about that.
