Rickochet Weirfan i used to have a piece of clear/see through piping from a drain hose but dropped it ans stepped on it and it cracked....see through was ideal. Being one who has had a grip blow up in my face I highly advise using a protection tube. Grips can expand quicker than you can react and blow up with an incredible force. Years ago I bought a tube from ArniesGolf on FGI. It is a clear Lexan Polycarbonate tube 1 1/4" ID x 1 1/2 OD x 1/8" wall. Clear makes it much easier to see what is happening to the grip and expansion progression. I see this stuff available on Amazon and McMaster Carr.
DonM Rickochet Yeah that sounds perfect. I have used 1.5 inch pvc but while it is safe, it can allow the grips to develop such a big bubble that they are permanently damaged. I have some sort of 1.25 pvc at home. Must be a unicorn size. Thinner wall.
SVonhof DonM Don't be surprised if they don't have them. I bought the ones I had probably 12+ years ago. You can always call the store first so you don't waste your time!
DonM Looking at polycarbonate tubes on Amazon. Came across this aluminum 1 foot piece which would also work, although not see through of course. Edit: can't seem to get the link to work.... Maybe due to percent signs in the link.
Rickochet DonM Edit: can't seem to get the link to work.... Maybe due to percent signs in the link. Turn your ad blocker off for golfbuzz if you have one active. The link is there. You just can't see it. The aluminum one would work although clear is better. Here is a 24" l.5" OD with a 1/8" wall and 1.25" ID. Cut it in half and sell half to a fellow buzzard.
DonM Rickochet Thanks! I am using the Brave browser, which by default stops tracking & cookies. Maybe some ads too. There is a quick click to disable the "shields" though. So now I see the links.
Nordique Sorry for being late to the party. Any hardware store will sell this by the foot. Safe and cheap to buy Mine is 11,5 inches long Braide vinyl tubing
DonM Nordique Thanks! I still haven’t bought anything. I’ll look for that. The Lexan tube on Amazon is now $40.
Rickochet DonM Thanks! I still haven’t bought anything. I’ll look for that. The Lexan tube on Amazon is now $40. That should work fine. Take a grip to the hardware store to check the fit. Try heating it with a heat gun while flexing it to get the curl out. Lots of things will work. I remember someone wrapping grips in an old denin pant leg. 😁
Rickochet DonM Arnie at FGI used to say he had a leather wrap made up for the job. Arnie is the one I bought my Lexan tube from.
