My goal is to eliminate one side of the course . With a barrel chest , ever decreasing flexibility the resultant OTT swing at times created a two way miss. I certainly don't need a closed face driver that points further left 😉 thus a square faced club is best.
my solution for years was to aim down the right side with a closed stance and play an OTT pull....this resulted in solid and ling shots but was a band aid and the poor alignment messed with my iron and putting game. So mid last season i just went with a normal square set up then flared the front foot 30* and aimed down the left side if the fairway and the result is a nice fade. Using this with the long irons as well and move progressively to less foot flare as the irons get shorter to perfectly square with 8 and lower....so far so good.
long story short, not a big believer in band aid solutions with clubs to correct swing flaws( although an offset driver can help guys with really bad slice).
