I put a set in some PING ISI heads last year and really liked them. They're the same weight as the graphite iron shafts I use (68 -70 g) so the heft is identical. They don't quite feel like graphite but you won't find a lighter smoother feeling steel iron shaft.

sdandrea1 I know all of LPGA players use the Zelos line because of the light weight, the feel of graphite in steel. Great shaft .. the best IMO in that weight class. I wish it were available through more OEM’s. Great senior option…. Probably the best one for them on steel.

Incorrect. The most used steel shaft on LPGA is NS 850GH, 950GH in wedges mostly by the diminutive Asian ladies.

sdandrea1 I built up a set of TS3 with Recoil 110, but jury is still out on them. There's something about the look at address I don't love and my P770 irons seem to work better for me. The Recoils may go into the P770s in the end. Building up a set of TS1-IM next.

The TS3 are getting an 18 hole road test tomorrow. I played 3 holes today after a range session and hit some great shots and some bad ones too. The Zelos are definitely steel in feel, but graphite in weight. Like you, I'm not in love with the look at address, but gawd, they're gorgeous in the bag. The sole and cavity is beautiful. They're "clicky" at impact, but flight is high and long. If I'm not happy tomorrow, I might reshaft in graphite. Steel doesn't dampen vibration like graphite. We'll see.

My favorite clubs at address right now are the Alpha MDC blades and the ZING2.

Exactly as I said to cut down the weight they made the tip section very stiff almost boardy for those looking for high launch graphite. They are not vibration dampening like graphite which again is the light weight rigid Nippon NZNS steel.

Are you talking about the TS3 ?

I have a set and if anything, they are too soft feeling at center impact. Even slightly off center, I didn't
notice any clickyness... 🤔 Flight is typically high though from what I've seen.

I agree. When these first debuted I thought they would be perfect for more. So far I just like them a lot, but the love isn't there. I'm not sure what the difference is, but the P770 sole seems to be better for me than the TS3. Maybe I've just gotten used to hollow irons, but I prefer the feel of the P770 and TS1-IM over the TS3. Even my old Apex Pro Forged feel better than the TS3 for some reason. The TS3 is quite forgiving though. The first par 3 I played I toed a 7i and almost had my first HIO. They deserve a bit more testing before a decision.

Repaired a Callaway 5 wood today for a buddy. It's a blind bore head that came apart from a UST shaft. No break, head flew off clean.......REALLY clean. The tip still has the glossy paint on it......no tip prep at all and the ferrule used did not have a collar. I'm shocked this club stayed together for one shot. Good grief.🙄

BTW Steve if you remember the True Temper TX-90 steel in 2006(also a thin walled steel for weight savings) the Zelos steel is much the same. The tip is supped to be softer but it's lost in translation in that the shaft profile is stiffer in the tip. A lot of golfers were disappointed with the TX-90 steel and would have been better suited with the performance of a Dynalite back then. Same kind of comparison.

Eguller Not speaking for Steve but the "click" "feel" is from the Zelos 6 shaft IF the head is center impacted from my thinking as I've seen it before. "Feel" subjective.

Goo filled poon. Same can be said for Cobra PWRSHELL iron heads LTDx, Aerojet, and Darkside from my experience same kind of uber strong jacked up iron head designs.

notice any clickyness..

I typically play solid forged or old PING castings. Anything with a welded -on face feels clicky to me. I'm betting they'd sound and feel different on graphite.

I am speaking of irons for Steve apples to apples and with his type of swing stats, not the average male player of 20 years ago. It's the aspect of to lose weight and in 2006 steel iron shafts that weighed 90g vs. Dynamic 130g was a big deal. To lose shaft weight the shaft has become thinner, thinner means more rigidity (more rigidity means stiffer tips, stiffer tip shaft profile means golfers with lower clubhead speed and early release means boardy) that's what I meant by translation. Semantics. One golfers great shaft is another's POS. ☺

Nippon in it's way is marketing the Zelos shaft as a replacement for graphite but there is a lot more than meets the eye.
