backinit It would only be a tee club for me, I think. We have 7 holes where I’d sometimes rather not use a driver due to bunkers etc. The 3 wood probably won’t be enough shorter than the driver to make it worth using. But I had the head so I’ll give it a look.

I’m hitting the 5 wood as far (carry) as I could hit a lower loft. Roll out is not as far though.

scotts33 For me with steel shafts I need more launch

Years ago I liked the Wishon Series 5? steel shaft in my fairways. I would sometimes use it untipped and I could get it over some tall trees lol.

KCee Biggest issue is .335 steel availability now. I have set aside a case of TT Dynalite and TT Dynamic along with some Apollo Shadow .335 steel.

Finally got off my ass and built my EQ1-NX irons, pulled the steel that came in them and popped the Logical One 95x shafts I bought for them in November in..

The good news, I took them to the range and was centering them pretty easily, even played around with some shot making drills and found that to go well. What a difference some time makes, the components, from heads, grips and shafts were all super consistent, 1g deviation for everything. My only “complaint” was the Tackimac grips I got were about 6g heavier than their spec, BUT they were all the same.

The bad, I forgot how long it takes to put a set together. I had it in my head I’d be done in about an hour… yeah no… also, without all my tools of old, I felt like a complete hack, just guessing at everything. There was no discernible spine, so I just blasted them together, logo down and sent it.

Par4QC I scaled and looked for spines across the 10 I got.. stupid consistent and no spine. These things are a STEAL at $12 a shaft. I’m going to buy a back up set if the on course results look as good as the range did. It’s hard to find “heavy” graphite shafts in X for twice the price. I know nothing about them, or if they are a rebranded something or other, but they seem like really good quality control.

        DC300

Thank you for the kind words! 🙏🏼😊

No rebranding. I had ‘specs’ that I wanted in graphite iron shafts so I started networking to find a factory that I felt comfortable in developing a partnership with, after receiving samples, and started working with them on a production run.

As a fun fact, I’d say 90% of the factories that ‘supposedly’ can produce shafts, can’t/don’t and so they pretty much just do stock blanks from a factory that can and have them painted. Plus, if one did go through that type of factory, you’d quickly find that there is no customization allowed (set CPM range, torque range and weight range) outside the paint and there is very little quality control either. Additionally, you’d probably find fiberglass in those shafts too.

DC300 agree built a set of OL Pinhawks for my bro for Xmas and just went logo down. Very little movement off the Rex "spine" finder. So I went logo down and did not bother with flo!

I just glued up an Acer XDS React 6 hybrid, 29 degrees, at 37.75" on an iRN shaft. Great color match. Which is nice because it's my gamer shaft. Pics tomorrow.

It's just another attempt to fill the one goddamn slot in my bag that can't be filled. 😐
My 6 iron at 27 degrees and 38 inches is really a 5 iron, and I just don't hit it well. My normal 6H is 39" long and it's got a 2 way miss. So let's try this Acer. I've had the head laying around for a few years.

Even if I hit it well, I might have a gapping problem. But first things first.

DonM That was mine also! Used to be my fav distance, and it was my 6i(30* at the time). I picked up the Paradym 7wd for it now. Works great, right on the money....with my swing of it.
I don't hit any club as far as 'the next guy'. But fairly consistent hitting them same distances. Choke down or 'step on them', for +/-.
I would drive any caddy nuts.😄

Par4QC My 27 degree 9 wood should be about 155, but I haven’t proved it yet. That would be perfect because my 7i is lower 140s. I’m interested to see what the Acer hybrid does.

DonM It's just another attempt to fill the one goddamn slot in my bag that can't be filled. 😐

Sounds like we're in the same damn boat...... I have a collection of #6 hybrids (including the Snake Eyes Quick Strike II I bought from you last year!), #9 woods, etc. that have all auditioned for the part, but can't quite measure up!!! Most of them are sitting in an extra bag in my garage, and before I head out to play I rummage through it to see which one I'll try that day......😠

DonM I built some XDS's for a client. The onset/face progression's are different.

Senior males as they lose distance with shorter playing length mid-irons with jacked up lofts (don't have high enough club head speed with an average playing length 5i 38"/loft 23 - 25 deg. or a 6i of modern variation) as an example) seem perfect candidates to longer playing length traditional lofted frwy woods. You get the traditional loft and trajectory of the club with the longer playing length for lost distance. ie. #9 and #11, etal frwy woods.

                  Just from my experience.

fatshot I absolutely love the old Adam's A12 OS hybrids. I play the 4-5-6-7. And you can get them super cheap.
