I'll say this much about drivers,if you find the right combo of head/shaft and BALL that consistently hits the ball
farther than anything else you've tried.....STAY with THAT COMBO!
The hype about the newest/latest and greatest from manufacturers like TM,Titty,Cally etc.,leads many to believe they will actually gain you another 5-8 yds. just by buying the current model of whatever brand.
Hell if the marketing hype was REALLY true, and you added up all the projected gains every time something new came out...
Drivers today would be/should be able to hit the ball 50-70yds farther than drivers produced say 12-15 years ago!
For me,(thanks to some old posts on here),the club combo that has produced the best results has been an old TM M-2
@ 10.5° with a HZRDUS Red (r) shaft.....tried the HZRDUS Yellow which is a couple yards longer than the Red,but didn't seem as consistently accurate.
And if you do find one of the current models that produces your desired results, that's great....probably just means you've been hitting a club/shaft that was way outdated and needed to be upgraded any ways.
I just don't think that driver technology has exponentially gotten THAT much better in say the last 10 or so years.
Even most pro's STILL spray an errant tee shot all over the place, and they get to use the latest manufacturers models not yet available to the general public.
