Big changes are coming to Wishon Golf... Mary-Ellen and I have made the difficult but joyful decision to ease down on our workload and move towards a form of semi-retirement.

As of October 1st, 2016, we will be handing over the rights to the Wishon Golf brand to Diamond Golf International, based in England. But don’t stop reading now, because Diamond will be offering you little to no shipping costs and no import duty – specific details of this are set out below and in the video.

Wow.....Tom had eluded to slowing down/retirement in a post on wrx, but was not expecting it so soon. He did a lot to educate the golfing community...IMO he walked the walk! Best of luck in retirement.

It's clearly designed to get you to spend more money....lets just say there won't be many single head or small orders....will have to wait or combine orders with others.

ode Keep in mind they are shipping from the UK! Shipping has gotten so expensive lately that I can understand it. Hell, it costs me about $30 to ship a single lightweight driver to Canada - and that's by truck. Every order they ship will need to be via air (unless you want to wait a month for your order), so even a single lightweight shipment isn't going to be cheap. And due to the higher price of most Wishon heads I can image that most orders will be easily over $100, unless like you said it's just a couple of iron heads.

It's a nice policy for now. For now being the operative words. This program will stave off some problem short term, but the brand will die a slow death especially in the US. I've already heard from plenty of customers that they are done dealing with them.

The interesting thing is going to be the effects of duty. I'm not sure what it will be like in the US, but I contacted Diamond about shipping to Canada and there will be duties charged. However, the person who responded to my message said that he believes these costs will be offset by the subsidized shipping that is being offered. For orders over $500 (US), shipping to Canada is free. This change in approach is certainly geared to accommodating full-time club makers, but I think that is reasonable. For those of you who are just hobbyists doing work on just a few clubs, welcome to the world Canadian tinkerers have been living for a long time. 🙂

TW talked about duty charges in his video on the sale. He said there is no duty charges on purchased <$800 (to the US, don't know about Canada). I believe he might have also said that DTUK will cover duty charges on orders over $800 (but that is over my budget, so I wasn't paying close attention).

If you are ordering <$100, then yep, this is going to sting. But I think over that, the impact isn't significant.

I don't want to be a "negative Nelly," nor do I want it to sound like I'm whining about things that haven't happened (and may never happen). However, I just listened to Tom's video and I notice that he says that shipment from the UK will come UPS. For those of us in Canada who cross-border shop, the use of UPS as a carrier is often a deal-breaker because their brokerage fees can be really high. (That's the fees for shepherding your package across borders, and they are charged upon delivery.) I don't buy anything from the US that isn't shipped by USPS, which usually doesn't charge brokerage fees (or they are very small). That being said, UPS does have prepaid brokerage services and perhaps Diamond will use these, but you may want to confirm this before making your purchase.

I'm very happy for Tom and I will reserve judgement on the shipping until I see it in action. I will say the biggest bummer for me is that I'll probably have to either order the Wishon graphite shafts in bulk or find a new go to graphite shaft that ships within the US. The Wishon line of shafts really are top notch for the price and the options available for fitting.

I tend to agree. I wonder how much of their business was to guys like me with an account just for personal use? That's all gone now.
Plus Wishon golf without Tom Wishon is of no interest to me, just like SMT without Mike tait, or Geek without Almo. They're just names, now.

It still remains the best option for me by far.
I'm sure some will bail but it will be interesting to see where they go.

Is there any benefit to placing an order before Oct 1st to save on shipping?

If you know the shipping is going to be less then 20..... otherwise no big deal to wait......I have a hard time believing a package will go from Europe/England to USA/delivery in 3 days like they say....wishon got orders out quick but then FedEx ground is pretty slow...the devil will be in the details re how fast they process orders and then get them to ups for the 3 day delivery.

Also note that diamond golf distributes other brands, so you will have the luxury of being able to include those in the order as well....o would like to see a catalog and/or price list of what will be available for purchase.

I almost want to wait and make an order to see how it goes.

Thanks. I was thinking of picking up the 565MC heads and would have pulled the trigger if the cost of shipping were to significantly increase.
