Ford vs Ferrari

Being an old gear head from way back,I HAD to see this movie!
And I wasn't disappointed as the acting,re-creation of a bygone era of racing,
and camera angles/sound were ALL first class.
The behind the scenes power struggles within the Ford Motor Co. to produce a super
fast car in the GT 40 (one of the coolest cars ever made) to compete against the king of the
hill at Le Mans in the '60's, was pretty intriguing and somewhat cutthroat.

If you like vintage fast cars,and a Carroll Shelby history lesson go see this movie,,
you won't regret it!

My two grandsons just saw it today. Like me, they are a far cry from gearheads, but they came home raving about it.
Guess I may have to check it out after everybody goes home from the holidays....!

SWMBO and I really enjoyed it. Christian Bale was outstanding. Apparently, Henry Ford II was a real prick. Lee Iococca had vision.

He was also a patriot. I read his book and it motivated me to trade in my German made auto for a new Cadillac, the first American made automobile I had purchased in years.

We bought three Toyotas in a row back in the 80's and 90's, and they were great cars, IMO. But we've been
trying to buy American cars for the last several years with the hopes of protecting American jobs....

Hate to say this, but it is (almost) laughable that people think 'American made' cars are actually 'made' in America. I guess I should not say laughable, but that people are uninformed/misinformed. Much like reading the labels on food, read the stickers/disclosures on vehicles on lots and you will find out exactly how many countries are involved in making those 'American made' vehicles! And where some were actually assembled. And for those that think 'foreign' vehicles are just that, well they are grossly misinformed also.

Robotics is not the main reason for loss of auto industry workers.

Saw the movie opening weekend on an IMAX screen, I really enjoyed it & wife like it too. Matt Damon & Christian Bale were excellent and, if you like vintage race cars, the racing scenes are excellent as are any scenes when someone has a wrench or shifter in their hands. As much as it's called "Ford vs Ferrari" it could have been called "Ford vs Ford" for all the corporate ankle biting and back stabbing. It tells a good story, don't miss it.

Wasn’t exactly accurate, especially when it came to Ford. Leo Beebe wasn’t anything like the character in the movie. Beebe was personally assigned by Henry to whip Ferrari’s ass. The movie completely ignores the contributions of Holman and Moody and the Ford engineers who designed and built the MKII cars.
Don Frey was the Ford executive in charge, not Iacocca, who had little to do with the LeMans project.
What the movie gets right is the dedication and skill of the Shelby team to set up and race the cars. As Ken Miles said, Ford’s IBM computer gave us the best car but each team had to set the cars up to fit the drivers. It’s really a terrific movie and as a Ford guy I’ve watched it several times.
