Rickochet I had to shake my head.
I'd have to vomit.
Much to what might be a surprise here, I am in complete and totally full agreement as it pertains to participation trophies. I swear they were invented by all those 'grown-up kids' who were either not chosen or chosen last in pick-up games. Hey! Shake it off. You don't like it? Get better, buck up and surprise some of your young peers with the mistake they made underestimating you. My gawd! Hated this stuff then (it's been going on a while now) and continue to despise it. Best damn prep your kids for a competitive world. Beyond that, not all of us are great, gifted athletes. Deal with it. Get involved in music, art, tiddly-winks, whatever. Self-esteem is an easy concept made difficult by losers. Self-esteem comes from accomplishment - nothing more, nothing less. Accomplishment does not require winning - just knowing in your heart of hearts that you gave you all, in the face of adversity. (Rant off)
