Kostis may not return to TV but I bet McCord does.

While I usually like hearing from former touring pros and their insight, I'll make an exception in McCord's case. I used to think he was funny, then it just got old and tired to me. Nothing worse, IMO, of somebody who tries to be funny and isn't. Just my opinion, of course....YMMV.

I'm guessing both McCord and Kostis were aware of this for some time now. I used to find McCord somewhat funny with Feherty, their back-and-forth banter years ago. But his shtick got old with me once Feherty left. He just didn't know when to turn it off. Never been a huge fan of Kostis, but didn't dislike him either. I don't see their absences impacting the ratings either way.

Will definitely miss McCord.

Glad to see Kostis out. I think he over valued his own importance. I think he started to inject his personal opinion too many times instead of just being an announcer.

I usually watch golf with the TV muted. I'll turn the sound on if there is a controversy, but I'm typically not interested in the blah, blah. I do like Feherty, tho.

I didn't mind Kostis.....McCord got old quick! Ken Venturi and Verne Lundquist are my favs!

sdandrea1 I do like Feherty, tho.

I have two fav Feherty comments. Rory hit a tree root or something or high grass and was hold his right wrist after the swing. The other commentator mention Rory's right arm and Feherty said, "He's a young man of 23. That should be the strongest muscle in his body." Second is someone pulled a drive way left deep into the woods and Feherty said, "Ooh, that is where the deer go to die." 😛

I've always liked McCord even when he's not shucking corn. Never really noticed Kostis that much, which probably speaks well of him. You could replace him, Nance, Hicks, with each other and I can't really tell the difference. They are all good, but I don't really care which is doing the call. I do miss McCord when he's not on though.

I'll miss McCord and even enjoyed watching him when he played 'inside the ropes' on a couple of Champions Tour events last year. Replacement?

There's a guy semi-retired that plays Pebble Beach annually in the AT&T pro-am that has a wealth of expertise from these forays and would be a good replacement - Chris Berman! NOT!

        McCord is pissed.

Here is what the future may hold for CBS Golf: Rumblings picked up by Golf Digest suggest that the network is going younger by making Trevor Immelman, the 2008 Masters champion, one of the new mainstays. He is expected to be join by his brother, Mark, a former All-American golfer and currently a college coach at Columbus State, who also does broadcasting on PGA Tour Live and on SiriusXM Radio. And 1997 PGA champion Davis Love III, a close friend of golf producer Lance Barrow, also could be in the mix at select events, including the Masters, according to sources.

For a short take on McCord's side of the issue, click here: https://www.golfdigest.com/story/gary-mccord-speaks-outloudlyabout-being-dropped-from-cbs-golf-team-bottom-line-they-fired-me?mbid=nl_102819_daily_hitlist&CNDID=%%CUST_ID%%?mbid=nl_102819_daily_hitlist&CNDID=%%CUST_ID%%

The Immelman brothers do a good job.
Pansy Love da Turd will not add anything to the broadcast except a hmmmroid.

I don't care. Nothing against McCord or Kostis ,really, I just don't pay much attention to who's doing the announcing for the most part. Half the time I don't even know who's doing the talking.

So... McCord's biggest grievance is that he wasn't afforded an opportunity to bid farewell on-the-air during a live telecast. CBS offered him the opportunity to work two more tournaments to tick that box, and he said no thanks.

He's 71, worked for the network for 33 years.
Kostis is 72, worked for the network for 27 years.

Neither has a legit complaint about the number of years they were afforded to enjoy their ride on the gravy train. In fact, I'd consider them pretty dang lucky to enjoy it for as long as they did.

            He's in.

I guess I'll never understand why these types of people would want to go into broadcasting after their long, successful careers are over. Esp. with the amount of money some have already banked. Do they not have anything else in life?

I would guess that Love still wants to work. They get accustomed to the travel, the camaraderie, and staying home and playing at the club don't hold much appeal. I know if I banked what Davis banked, I'd be home every day -- you wouldn't catch me on a plane to anywhere 😀
