Only got to hit my 5 iron (Pinhawk) 2x today and mishit it both times, completely miserably, that was enough to convince me it's real. HORRIBLE contact, missed one green by 3 ft, the next the contact was so bad I was looking for the ball 15 yards short and well left and someone else spotted it, easy chip up. My back is all sorts of F'ed up right now, interestingly, off the tee, no prob; get to irons, I can't get that downward push to get it done. Early in the round I was ok, wound up with a lot of 7 irons, all well struck, couldn't wait to hit the 5 iron, didn't come until the last 2 holes. End result, off the tee today, I was unbelievably long and mostly accurate... and I putted well.
Played a Shamble, I contributed a lot of tee shots and even had a -4 for 6 hole run, but ultimately my back gave out and it wasn't just from carrying the rest of the team. I would have loved this run with Peter when we played, the scores could have been great. In context, I had a -4 run, we shot 79. I was useless after the tee shot the last 7 holes. Mind you I watched 4 holes, 300+ yard drives end bogey or worse from the fairway, just the last 7.
Point if story, this game is not about the great shots, it's about how playable the awful shots are. In my estimation, the Pinhawks give you a better chance to miss well ( at least in the longer irons) and for that reason, they are worth the gamble to buy. I have NEVER felt more comfortable over a 5 iron. It was easy, now the 6 iron from my set gave me nightmares to be really honest, so it's a mental game, but I'll say this, I'm sold. It's legit, I'm selling my Callaway x hot pros and moving to Pinhawks.
