I remember when these uber expensive wedges had come out a decade or so ago, we're talking around ~ $249/ea. They were a boutique brand offering, new company, very high-end. Can't remember the name of them, but I thought to myself that there couldn't possibly be $160 difference between them and the Cleveland wedges I was gaming at the time.
I did notice sets of PXG irons in a couple of bags at the private club I was a member at a few years ago. They might be great clubs for all I know. The guys that had bought them were pretty decent players, 4-5 handicap range. Said they were fitted. Wouldn't divulge how much the set cost them, and everybody was all goo-goo gah-gah to see them.
Both players put a notice in the locker room bulletin board that they were willing to part with them for $1300 about a month later. Even at a nice private club, nary a member was remotely interested in even demoing them at the range. The interesting thing is that both guys bitched to no end about the locker fees increasing $25 the following season. LOL
But somebody's buying them, obviously. I guess it's no different when I go driving through one of the nearby neighborhoods and see these magnificent 6-bedroom homes starting out at $750k. The downpayment for one of those homes is equal to what I paid for my current townhouse. I just can't relate to having that type of f**k you money.
