Played with a guy named Cal Shankle many years ago. Decent player, has played in the Dupont Amateur down in Myrtle Beach on numerous occasions.
So he hits a tee ball and it ends leaving him with a sidehill lie, ball well above his feet, in clumpy, uneven rough. As he takes the club back, his back foot slips... ended up twisting his ankle, and yes - he shanked it.
I've never forgotten the irony of that moment all these years since.
