Hey Dave, yes, I tried the sft version before the Max. Although I had some good results with the sft, it was a lot less consistent than the Max. I hit a lot of dead pulls with the sft, which mostly told me draw bias just doesn't fit my swing. On good hits, there wasn't much difference in distance, but I have a lot more good contact with the Max.
It's worth mentioning that I only played the stock Alta CB in the sft, and started out with that same shaft when I went to the Max. Didn't like it in either and eventually put a Aldila DVS (A flex tipped 1") in the Max. After that, it was pretty much game on. Again, the best combo of length and accuracy I've had in years.
