This minimalist thing is hooking me again. 77 today, 1 birdie and 2 skins for $22. The 6 hybrid is an amazing club for MANY different shots. I used it on 13 holes today for approach shots ranging from 100 to 130 yards. On #18 (par5), my 3rd shot was 110y over a pond that borders the green. I chipped with the 6h to the green front and it held about 10' above the center pin. One thing minimalist golf does is build confidence in a few go-to clubs.

Driver, Perfect Club, 6h, 9i, GW, SW, Putter.

I just picked up a 24 degree and a 36 degree Callaway hybrid. My KE4 Max PW is 43 so I'm gapped pretty well.

With the minimalist bag set up, what is the average course length (yardage)?

Not sure I could handle looking into the bag seeing nothing but woods/hybrids headcovers and a couple of odd iron clubs, maybe I'm stuck in the past. (There was a time the only non-irons in my bag was a driver and 3 wood).

I play senior tees in Florida at 5300 to 5500 yards, par 70 and 71. My course here in VA is 5400 par 72. I drive the ball pretty reliably, NEVER even think about reaching a par 5 in two shots. I just play for position, and trust my short game. On the long par 4s I play as 3 shots to get on and avoid the double bogey. My driver and a longish hybrid will usually get me in scoring position. Most of my scores are low 80s to upper 70s.

I am the same it takes some ability to take appearance and push past it. The Wishon 730CL set that I mentioned only has 2 non-headcover clubs plus putter also a headcover club.

Wishon 730CL 16 deg. driver, 20 deg. long frwy, 26 deg. high frwy, 30 deg. 5hy, 36 deg. 6/7 hy, 42 deg. 8/9 hy, 48 deg. PW, 54 deg. DW and putter for 9. 9 is a bit much for myself personally but 6 deg. loft gaps for seniors makes a lot of sense with dwindling swing speed.

Tom is designing a new specialty set for seniors/ladies to come out potentially in 2023.

5400 - 5700 is ideal for me but I go up to 6000 - 6100 then score zooms up. On average reaching par 5's in 2 is an impossibility and long par 4's over 400 are a chore hence GIR is so-so. Puts a lot of pressure on pitching/chipping/putting. I spend any practice time on those clubs the middle of the bag I don't use much in Minimalist Golf. I can drop them. It's long clubs driver and frwy woods with a decent hybrid and one mid iron, one short iron, wedge and putter.

Exactly! My driver and single long hybrid cover the distance on most holes to put me in 6h, 8h, or W range. Carrying a 3w, 5w, is of no use and I suck with them anyway. A good strike with my 4h (likely) goes way farther than a topped FW metal (also likely).
