It was nice to get to watch PB without having to endure the pain of the amateurs we are force fed in the PB Pro Am. I stopped watching the pro am years ago because of it.

I was disappointed that scoring was so low, so atypical of a US Open where the goal is to have the winner shoot around par. However PB is a short course for these guys and no wind made it play relatively benign.

Some great coverage angles from the blimp made PB look great. I was trying to decide where to go for my 60th in a couple years and now seriously considering I might just head to this area.

Congrats to Gary Woodland !

mikeintopeka (The exception is Tiger +3 after 5).

I thought it interesting the the TV covered never showed Tiger after about the 4th hole until he was on 18.

It was a rare afternoon, not even a breeze.

I also liked the occasional look from the drone they used. First time ever to see the oceanside holes from above the bay looking back at the coastline.

On Saturday, when the drone footage was rolling, in the corner of the screen you could see a mast from one of the yachts come into view. Surreal.

Great win by Woodland. All those final guys made some unbelievable recovery shots from trouble. I actually like seeing the course a little more playable than the usual U.S. open setup. Now if only they would stop all these dillholes from yelling, I might watch more PGA than just the majors.

No ranting nor raving against the USGA. What happened?

azgreg With a whole lot of help from Mother Nature, I'd say. Had there not been cool days and cloudy skies, and some moisture in the air, all hell would have broke loose out there.
I was shocked as to how easily everyone got out of the rough, without penalty. I actually disliked watching the tournament; no excitement, until the last few holes on Sunday.

azgreg They got it right this time.

You have to wonder what would have happened if the sun had come out more and the
breeze had kicked up. What would the USGA have done ?

They stated they were prepared to syringe the greens if needed. With more wind they probably would have their target score for the winner: par.
