It can definitely become habitual and/or addictive OCD like behaviour.
I played a round with this guy, but thankfully I was walking and only for 9 holes.
He was a member and working at winning the club championship in his flight.
His wife told me this, while we golfed and chatted the whole 2 hours. LOL
I played this 9 hole course (3 years ago) 3 times a week for the entire summer.
Used my GPS watch for the first two weeks (it was new-ish),
After that, I only wore it to keep the feel of it fresh.
If anybody had asked me yardage, I could only tell them the time of day as that's what it was set to.
Didn't need yardage. It was more "yesterday I hit 7 iron from here" etc etc.
Alone, I played most rounds in an hour and 15 and I walk slow.
