I thought we had a thread for this, but couldn't find it. What did you buy today?

CraigsList impulse buy today. TM Qi35 LS driver, looks hit maybe twice. PXG 0311P Gen 4 5-GW irons with Steelfiber i110 shafts, X flex GROWL! $600 for all.

Seller was a TALL guy. Driver at 46". Don't think the Kali'i 70S shaft will work for me, and I had an old TM adapter in my closet, so I have put an Xcaliber Avalon 5 into that adapter to try out.

The 0311P were all 0.5" to 1" longer than standard. Looks like a home install job on the steelfibers. Ferrule gaps, shaft orientation at random. Fortunately, they all look like they were tipped correctly, so I just have to pull the shafts and reinstall - and then butt trim to normal human dimensions. Don't like the grips anyway.

The GW was funny though. He installed a RIP Beta hybrid shaft, and had it at 38" long!

AND I have a used PXG 0317T iron set due to arrive tomorrow.

All this because my Wilson D9 forged irons had been in the bag for 2 years. And my PXG Gen 5 driver for 3 years. And I was perfectly happy with both, but I needed something to do. Ugh.

Sparky I would figure the Kaili70s would fit you much better than the SF 110 x flex will. If you’re pulling the SF’s you might want to sell them or trade them for something easier to hit.

Typhoon Yeah, that is kind of my expected plan. My swing is pretty much flex agnostic though, I think I have negative upper body strength, so I don't even flex an R much. I've been playing DG105s stiff for the last few years.

I did hit the irons at the range today, loved the low ballflight of the i110 shafts. When I got home, I cut the shafts down to standard lengths and regripped. Still have the misaligned shafts and some ferrule/hosel gaps, I'll have to tackle those next week though. Got a round on Monday so I'll give these a shot now that they at least fit - that will at least give me some indication if I can hit the Xs.

A few parts for my chainsaw. Once I get paid again, I'll be ordering a new piston and rings for it. After I get everything, I'll dig it out and see about putting it all back together and make it sing again.

Wife got me this knowing that I have a fondness for cows and saying the word moo! So I didn’t literally buy it, but since I’m the only depositor into the bank account - I paid for it. Coffee tastes good out of it

pellmell As I understand it, TM doesn't verify serial numbers. I did a close inspection of fonts and weights, looked real. Seller also had those PXG irons, and was driving a $100k+ Porsche SUV, and showed me his new PXG Gen 7 irons, so he didn't seem to be a shady character.

I was going to turn around and flip it, but then I found an old TM adapter in my stash, and put one my spare XCaliber Avalon 5s on it. Took it to the range, and was getting a good 4-6 mph ball speed increase over my PXG Gen 5 with Avalon. Spin should be lower too. Going to take it to the course today, so we'll see if I can keep it in play for reals.

I've been a loyal TM fanboy for 30 years, but I guess I've lost it. I just can't get behind anything/move beyond my M2.😪. I think it's my forever driver.*

*I did buy the TM MINI mainly for nostalgia sake. Oh, the copper days of old.😘

Good grief, on the course this thing (Qi35 LS) was a monster. My PXG Gen 5 (9 deg) is really consistent. With a SS around 95-97, I would get about 230 carry on a good hit. High fade, and not much roll.

First hit with the Qi35 LS (10.5 deg) yesterday was dead straight down the left side of the FW. Saw it land, and bounce over a mound. Measured the landing point at just under 240. Ball stopped at 276.

Last hit of the day was on a 330 Par 4. Flushed. Dead center. Higher flight than the first hit, ended up going exactly 300. There is actually a small pond front right of the green, measured on the GPS at 290. Yes, firm course, but I did not think I'd get close to that. In the end, still hit 9/11 fairways with the new driver.

Guess I'm keeping this one. However the PXG irons I bought at the same time are a complete miss. 😁

Sparky I’m owed a new Qi. I’ve thought about the qi35 LS because ,like the Qi10 LS, it hits bombs. What I’ll end up doing most likely is the core model qi35 10.5 but swap the weights and put the heavier one in the front. Makes it like a more forgiving qi35 LS

Typhoon Absolutely true. Just doesn't get the juices flowing like buying a new set of irons.
