I thought we had a thread for this, but couldn't find it. What did you buy today?

Par4QC I discovered that most torx bits don't hold up very well. I've tries Diablo, Norske, bits that were included in the box... all of them suck and break within 50 screws. The wiha impact bit that they include works fantastic and lasts at least 150 screws each. I ordered a pack of them direct from Wiha.

I used to have my houseboat at a marina that had thousands of feet of pressure treated decking and they went through thousands of deck screws per year. This was pre-torx head screws and they used screws that took square bits. I had a 20' x 12' deck at the end of my slip and was flipping the deck boards over. I was struggling and kept chewing up my square bits. A dock worker saw me and gave me a bit that came with the screws. What a difference. The screws came right out and the bit never stripped. They got screws in a box about a foot square that came with a bunch of bits. These bits got lost more often than worn out. I can't remember the screw brand but it was in a bright yellow box.

Some CAT6 cable so I can run ethernet connection to my kid's new gaming pc.....apparently it's not fast enough on wi-fi 🙄

KCee I did that a few years back. Our house has shitty wifi so I ran one downstairs for Nick and into my other sons room so they’d be hard wired.

Bravopilot I looked at that, but a buddy of mine that knows about the stuff said Cat8 and even CAT7 was overkill for our internet. The CAT6 cable was a fraction of the price of the CAT8.....and I don't game so....lol

Rickochet I eas down to my last bit when I was building the counter and shelf for the barn in Newbury Park when I tried the bit that came with the fastcap screws. I ran that bit for almost 200 screws before it stripped or broke. Everything else lasted 10-20 screws before breaking.
I need anymore impact bits, I'll be going directly here for them. I'll swear by these bits, they last.

Walterjn When we needed more, or replacements, we got the Milwaukee Shockwave bits. Can't recall ever having 1 break.

The problem with stripping screw heads/bit tips is from the person using the tool. Most of the screw guns/drivers have a torque setting. No one uses it. Thus, stripped heads/sheared tips.
'A man's gotta know his limitations'. And his tool's!!

Par4QC as far as I can tell, my impact driver doesn't have any settings.
Sheared tips, twisted tips, seen many of both. impact driver only goes to 1600 in/lbs, so 133 ft lbs.

I don't like using impact/hammer drills on screws. I prefer a variable speed drill and set it for the appropriate speed and torque setting.

Engine and cabin air filters for the CR-V and iM. A memory saver device that plugs into the OBD2 port so I can disconnect the car batteries and clean the terminals without resetting everything.

Sounds like a GM vehicle if it needs the evap canister purge valve. 🤔

Typhoon I’ll let you know if it works. $22.50 on Amazon and uses a small 9 volt battery like we used to run transistor radios on.

Rickochet Yep, impacts are made for 'posts' and such. No need for them with 1x's or 2x's.

colej just had my 08 Vibe done for that very thing....I don't know if it will fix my very rough idling and feeling like it was gonna "quit" when it got very cold and coming to a stop light and to reat. It never did, but it would hug and chug. I'd put in N and give a little gas and all was good!
