I was doing battery business yesterday also. I needed new batteries in my E-Z-GO RXV cart. Boy, have they gone up in price (if you can get them). I thought I would be looking at around $800-$900 for a set of 4 12v batteries as that's what they were a little over a year ago. I got a bit of sticker shock when I went searching a week ago for a set of new Trojan batteries. No one had Trojans. They all had switched to another brand, if they had them at all. Almost everyone who had batteries now were handling US Batteries. Most rating sites rate them as quite good but a bit below Trojan. The price? $1300 for a set of 4. Crazy! I wanted to convert to lithium but there are few places that do the conversion. I called the E-Z-Go dealer where I bought my cart to see if he was offering a conversion to the Samsung system that E-Z-GO uses but he wasn't. He also said that he wasn't recommending any of the conversions being offered now. He did say that he had batteries but was also having trouble getting Trojans since they moved production to Mexico. He was offering Crown batteries. I checked the ratings sites and it seems that they are very good batteries also, but probably like the US Batteries they weren't quite as good as the Trojans. He did quote me price of $1050 which included new cables and hold down brackets so yesterday I made the trip to his place in New Hampton, IA to get new batteries. I had forgotten how far away New Hampton was. It was 243 miles. That's a long way to pull a cart. It took me almost 4 hrs. each way. He was somewhere else playing golf yesterday and it's probably a good thing that he was or he'd maybe have talked me into a new lithium cart instead of the batteries.
