JB weld??>
"Picked up an Adams Red hybrid on the BAY. This one actually showed up and is in EXCELLENT condition. Been looking for a LONG time...
SUMBEACH!!!
Here we go again! Adams Red Hybrid - PERFECT on the range before my round! Hit it 4 times by the 8th hole with absolutely fantastic results! Hole 8 (par5) bombed a drive and onto a perfect lie middle fairway and reachable with the RED.
Smooth swing, perfect contact and the whole bottom of the club head exploded! Soleplate and weights go flying down the fairway...🤣🤬🤬🤬😡 SUMBEACH!!!
Anybody have an old Adams Red laying around they don't want?
NOPE - I meticulously took it all apart and cleaned everything.
JB Weld (steel) the aluminum plate back together and let it cure. Looking at the design it appeared the screws could be adding too much pressure to the plate so I added tiny washers to keep the screws from going into the head too far.
Put everything back together and slowly tightened the screws to just snug. Set it down and the plate and weights dropped out.
NEW APPROACH - TURNING AN ADAMS RED HYBRID INTO A SILVER!
So I tried something different this time. Obviously bonding the weak links in the aluminum plate is like putting mashed potatoes in the hole in the dam. So I decided to circumvent and use the outside of the plate for strength. Here comes the Magic of Aluminum tape (a close cousin to Duct tape).🤓
Please see pics of the mended plate and the new aluminum "cover" that protects the hole kit and kaboodle.
The idea of the cover is if the insides explode they will all stay together and land in the same spot on the course.
IT AIN'T PRETTY but she should HUNT!
NOPE - lasted 2 balls on the range and rattles like crazy.
Failed again 🤣
