What did you buy this week?

sdandrea1 Or as I would shoot from the tips.
I still see these "old" people out there playing from the whites. I still see those "old" people carding +90. I notice some of them can still hit it 'out there', off the tee, say around 250+. But then I watch them take 3-4 more shots to get it on the green. They will never move up and(possibly) cut 18 strokes from a round!!!

sdandrea1 My boy recently had lessons and the Pro told him to play from the senior tees until he gets consistent. So we both played from the gold tees last Saturday and I sucked just as bad from them as earlier in the week from the blues at another course. Plus it really messed me up as far as knowing what I could hit to make the doglegs or lay up short of trouble. Really in a funk right now. Going back to the muny tonight - hope I can get my downswing issues ironed out soon.
I play from 5400 to 5800 . Some courses, that's white (can we say 'white?), some courses it's one back from the forward most tees. It gives me a shot at reaching GIR with a 6i or less.
I play from the cracker tees as long as they are over 5700 yards or so. If not, I'll drop back to the (colour that Spuzz finds offensive). As long as I'm somewhere between 5700 - 6300 I'm ok.

Precisely why I play the cracker tees!
and the Gold tees are too far (and I find the gold reference offensive to us poor folks)
Doesn't seem to matter if I play the Blue or white tees either. With all the shitbums that feel the need to play the blues at our place I wish they would take the Blue tees out and add a senior set. We have red , whit and blue now.
Spuzz Gold tees
On a lot of courses the gold tees are the tips, but for some reason the course we played at last week the gold tees are the senior tees, the next back from the ladies tees. I don't know if gold is for golden years or why they did that.

I find 5800-6200 works best for me. Driver swing speed ~ 90 mph. Shot a 79 last Friday from ~ 6100 and an 83 yesterday from about the same distance, but different course.
My former home course had to take out the 7100 yard tees. Too many golfers that have more ego than brains and automatically go to the tips. Now the Blues at 6800 are the tips.
Sneakylong I'm not as good as you, but my problems stem mainly from my real ineptitude in the short game. Generally I won't play from a tee farther back than one that totals less than 6300 yards though. Once the par 4 holes get much over 400 I'm looking at a 4 iron or longer into the green most times.

The public course I play most has installed senior tees except on one par 4 where even from the senior tee that still leaves us at least 220 to the green. We now go to a spot about 70 yards closer that gives at least a chance to hit it in two. I mentioned moving he senior tee to this area to the manager and he said maybe they will just change to card and make it a par 5 from the senior tee. This is not what senior tees are there to accomplish.

Tip from a shortknocker….play those holes like a Par 5 and you will be surprised as to how easy they become. And be surprised as to how many of them you actually Par(4). Hit clubs you are comfortable and accurate with. Smile after the 1 putts!

Went to the Post Office earlier to mail some of the bills. I decided to go to D*ck's and pick up some U/Fli Speed golf balls for one of my kids. I had a gift card from one of them, don't remember which. Got three dozen with the logo for free. The logo I had them print was D. B. Cooper Jr. He does hit the ball a mile but when he misses the fairway they are almost never seen again! I'm thinking he'll get a good laugh out of them. They should arrive in three weeks.
I bought 18 holes at a nice course in Independence, Missouri. I'm in town for a mediation tomorrow and had time for a twilight round. Beautiful canyon layout with nice elevation changes. My damn phone was dead, so no pics. WIDE fairways, deep rough, cracker tees were 5825y.
Rentals were Mizuno JPX 900 woods, hybrids and Hotmetal irons. Nice sticks!
