azgreg sdandrea1 Might as well grab a spare set while they're available. Nice Correct. Don't need them now as my current set is only about a year old.
backinit Getting ready to buy some humbuckers for a guitar that isn't very lively. Maybe a Tonerider Panama, may just swap out the magnets in the current pickups..not sure yet.
sdandrea1 backinit Getting ready to buy some humbuckers for a guitar that isn't very lively. Maybe a Tonerider Panama, may just swap out the magnets in the current pickups..not sure yet. Let me know how that goes. I'm not that happy with the PUs on my PRS Santana. The PAFs on my Les Paul are superior.
backinit sdandrea1 The real issue with this guitar is that it's dead sounding. The pickups in it now are the second set that I've had in it with the same result. What may work well it that guitar may not work well in others. To me the best set out there is a SD JB bridge and a SD '59 neck. Someone looking for a solid PAF bridge pickup I would say a SD '59 set. I don't like the '59 bridge personally as it sounds scooped and under powered. I've stopped buying SDs and Dimarzios and lean towards Giovanni by Artec and Tonerider as they both are 1/4 to 1/3 the price and I'm totally happy with them. Check out the Tonerider website for sound samples.
sdandrea1 backinit Thanks! My PRS is mahogany, same as the LP, but a tad thinner. The pickups are just "flat" if that makes sense. I'll check out Tonerider.
Weirfan Bought several Christmas gifts ( found some things on sale ) will wait for Black Friday deals to finish it up. Trying to keep it to under $3000 total this year
