sdandrea1 My yard has gone to Hell also. Way too much rain. Not sure what I have but it no longer looks like grass. I mowed yesterday and it is some gnarly crap. I'm going back out today, lower the blade, and scalp that shit to kill it.
I tried the 'humane' method before, now it's pissed me off.

Most of the brand new grass I put down had issues due to all the rain we got. It got a fungus and I had to treat it with a fungicide and a few weeks later I reseeded spots that died off.

US Army here. Ft Jackson SC Basic July 1974. I was already a fairly accurate rifleman from my Junior NRA days at Langley AFB at age 10-12. I was used to 50 feet though. 300 yards seemed like a LOOOONG way but I qualified 1st try. M-16 is $$👍

I was OK but not great with a rifle but I could hit a running gopher at 50-60 feet with a .22 pistol. My dad on the other hand was great with a rifle. Shooting a .22 rifle as a young guy, he could toss a penny in the air and hit it. He used to stick wooden matches in a fence post and light them by shooting the tips. One of my uncles was so sure of his skill that he would take an empty .22 shell box between two of his fingers and back off about 100 feet and let my dad shoot it out of his fingers. In the army during WWII he earned an expert rifleman pin. I don't know if that's actually anything great but he
was fairly proud of it, and so was I.

I signed away any rights before closing. They're only liable for getting the sod laid and rooted, which they did. If I could prove it was infected with 50% crabgrass, I might have a case. I knew I didn't stand a chance. Laying new sod in late June - no irrigation system install until late July - 2 weeks of the hottest and dryest weather going back decades right before irrigation is installed - perfect storm for sod failure.

Grass… I Fertilized in April and May. Normally depending on Rain I might hit it again I’m June but definitely in July with Merit added in for grubs. This year I did only April and May. Last week I put down straight fertilizer because it was finally getting a bit cooler.

I’m wondering if Par4qc has the Spurge weed growing. I have it and it’s a bitch to get rid of. I buy my products from Site One and my buddy Rob had me buy Speedzone to get rid of it and other weeds. He said Ortho weed b gone is good for dandilions and that’s about it. I pulled out a lot of the spurge but I need to spray now. It’s lethal shit.

I have that out back, along the house and in driveway seams. Nothing.....gets rid of it. In fact, some of the products make it flourish even more!!
I did a salt/vinegar mixture. I did the Roundup. I even did(having grown up on a farm) straight ol' gasoline 😲. That shit is still there.

The front and back yards have crabgrass. Getting to the point the whole front is.
No rain in the forecast, so I'm going to scalp that shit today. But, overnights have been low temps and the grass is still wet even right now. Temps are heading back into the 90's in a couple days, so we'll see how this goes.
Gotta give the neighbors something to talk about. I'm sure they wonder about me already, having to mow 2-3 times/week.

Par4QC white vinegar, dawn and salt will kill anything, especially spurge. It can also ruin the rubber gaskets in your spray tank, depending on what you use. Which is why I like to use Spectracide.😁

Ft Jackson also for basic. I have minor color vision issues, so if the target moved ( popped up), I could nail it from any distance. Shot expert, only because the targets moved. 🥴.
They wanted me to advance, but I signed up for Language School. 👍

sdandrea1 I've never had it before, so it may not be something that was in the sod anyway. Not sure how this crap develops, just on it's own. I have noticed the next door neighbor has it also though.

I'm heading out now to do a 'hit-run' on that shit. 😅

sdandrea1 I don’t know the growing season there but here in April I use Fertilizer with Dimension. Then the next treatment a month or so later is the same. I do the perimeter around driveway, sidewalk and walk 2x. You do the perimeter twice because the crabgrass likes it there because of the heat coming off the pavement.

See if you have a “Site One” place down there. It’s commercial grade products and much cheaper than Lowes and Home Depot believe it or not.

Typhoon I'm going to do a search for what is local. I don't hold much stock in these sprays/powders any more since Congress is against all horticulture(herbicides/pesticides banning) and totally into medicine/health care. Maybe I should rephrase that to say medicine/healthcare is all into Congress🤔; which shows which industry has the most $$.
I shot some stuff on the dandelions earlier this summer...killed them....4 days later they were back in the same spots. And Roundup is nothing more than water now.

Anyway, I lowered the blade on that shit, after just mowing yesterday. Then thought....there's 1 notch lower, and did it again😅.

I have used Spectracide for years that I get at Lowes. It comes in a concentrate I add to my sprayer. They have a grass killer and a grass and weed killer. It is cheaper than Roundup and works quicker. Rain safe in 15 minutes and you will see results the next day.

That stuff is like a cheap fertilizer/water mix. Spurge turns brown within hours, then 2 days later there is twice as much!
