Rickochet I bought a sealcoat job for my asphalt driveway. My driveway was in need of some work with edge prep, crack cleanout and filling and recoating. I was dreading having to do this. It's not a fun job for an old geezer with too many broken parts. I was sitting down to have lunch and I hear the doorbell ring. Looking at his truck it was obviously a sealcoat dude. I saw the same guy do a neighbor's house a few days earlier. I asked for a quote and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse for all the prep work and sealing. He jumped right into it and was gone in a few hours. He did it for less than I could buy the materials. I am a happy camper. 😛
sdandrea1 I'm headed to the John Deere dealer tomorrow. Thinking S110. Need a Stihl string trimmer too.
Rickochet sdandrea1 I'm headed to the John Deere dealer tomorrow. Thinking S110. Looks nice. My last JD mower lasted 17 years. I only traded it after having issues finding parts for the Kawasaki motor. FWIW, I have read that the JD's sold at big box stores are not the same as the ones at the outdoor equipment dealers. I like dealing with dealers and have bought my last few mowers from them. I am a big fan of the hydrostatic tranny. 😜
sdandrea1 Rickochet Thanks Rick. The dealer is literally 5 minutes from my house and Lowe's is 12 minutes. Lowe's offered me 5% off and free delivery, so I'm going to see if the dealer will match. The dealer actually told me that the machines are the same at both venues. Interesting, because I'd heard the same as you.
Typhoon sdandrea1 The dealer actually told me that the machines are the same at both venues. Interesting, because I'd heard the same as you. Yup, a lot has changed with that and even with Appliances. Same one at my local appliance store is the same one at Lowes.. no “lesser model” anymore.
Rickochet Typhoon Yup, a lot has changed with that and even with Appliances. Same one at my local appliance store is the same one at Lowes.. no “lesser model” anymore. Maybe things have changed. Years ago I was on a lawn equipment forum and someone asked about this. A guy who did repair work said he had problems matching up part numbers on the big box vs. dealer models on some brands. I think JD was one mentioned.
Typhoon Rickochet Yeah, they used to use a thinner grade of steel etc... on the Home Depot stuff. Model numbers could have an A or something after the number but not anymore.
sdandrea1 The dealer matched Lowe's price and offered free delivery. I'm happy. Should have it this week. Bought a Stihl 2 stroke trimmer too.
Rickochet sdandrea1 The dealer matched Lowe's price and offered free delivery. And you have someone to fix it if needed as well. Good work Steve. 😛
backinit I should be taking receipt today of front rotors and pads for the old SUV, a PSA dagger RMR slide and a PXG leather raised letter driver headcover. I'll try to get one side of the SUV stripped tonight. I also ordered the 2nd accessory belt that runs the water pump for the commuter. I would love that thing to make it to 250, 000 miles, but I don't know if it's going to happen.
mulegolf VigilanteTrail I hope you like them as much as I like mine. I got mine free for using points I accrued for using one of my credit cards. I never was able to play golf wearing sunglasses but these work great.
VigilanteTrail mulegolf I hope you like them as much as I like mine They are pretty damn great thus far…especially having both sets of lenses for different conditions. 👍
mulegolf I ordered a set (7-PW) of XXIO Prime 11 irons. I found them on ebay for under $300. They are refurbished and described as Excellent. We'll see... 🧐
