Par4QC Not really, if the spin is too high, the distance can easily be lost by the ball going up, not penetrating. So carry may be shorter and then you lose desent angle, which kills the roll.

I don’t know if hot melting is or is not worth it, but if you can fine tune to maximize your output, I’d go for it.

Typhoon I noticed 2 guys, Champ and Lovelady , who hit the ball a mile as well use the Ping G400max but add 5 grams of weight near the face to lower spin.

Tony Finau uses a Ping G400 Max also I believe.

I've sent Cobra heads back to Cobra to get hot melted in the past. Cobras had a port on the bottom of the head. I remember calling around the Tampa area asking club repair guys if they did hot melt. One guy used to have one, but didn't get enough requests for it. The hot melt gun is expensive I was told.

Anyway, I'd call Ping and ask if they could add some hot melt near the face for you. I don't see a port, but obviously they have a way of getting it in there.

The Kuro Kage shaft I've hit though seems to do a good job on spin for me. I was watching a TXG video last night where they had a guy hitting the LST and the Max. Like me, he was getting less spin and more yards with the Max.

In the older model Cobras they had a port that was specifically there for adding hot melt. Now with the screw weights in the sole it makes sense that that's where they access it now.

I think that's all the heel weight weighs (5 grams) in the G400 SFT model. It is confusing though because Taylormade puts over 40 grams towards the heel in their draw models.

Was it the lefty guy who works there? He has a high swing speed like you as well. His driver was / maybe still is a G400 LST. I tried the Max, but I'm so used to the SFT models with the heel weight which makes it easier for me to square it up.

Some heads still have that hole. It’s pretty easy to drill out and just epoxy a old style callaway bore thru plug in it.

This guys speed was a bit lower than mine, smooth transition and the Kuro Kage shaft worked best for him, same as me. They had him try a Graphite design Tour ad mj shaft and the dispersion was a bit more but was longer. That shaft had a softer tip and stiff middle. I also have a House of Forged Black Diamond shaft that has a softer tip and stiffer middle. Picked it up over the winter.

There's a lot of buzz with this Fujikura Ventus shaft. It slight softer butt, but stiff tipped.

Yeah, that's what I keep thinking too despite what I read. I know the Cobra f9 weight is 14 grams and the rear is 2. I dunno...I'd experiment with tape anyway.

If you are not over 105 mph what's the point? If you are then I might get it if you are a great driver of the ball and want to optimize the head IF yu have a great head/shaft combo. If you play golf for money or have money to throw away do it. Good hot melt injection systems are expensive.

That guy is funny but his bits are just too long. I don't have 14 minutes to listen to him. It killed me to get through the last one at 11 minutes.

And where exactly would you be putting this tape? How many hours will be spent moving the tape around, until you find what you think is the best place for it to be? And, what will the results be....straighter, longer, shorter? Not sure of the results you are expecting to achieve.

When you can hit a ball 300 yds., what is this all about? I'd think tinkering with irons or best yet, putters, would be a better place.

Probably put the tape on the " n" side of the "g". I'd look at where Callaway and Cobra have their weight in relation to the face. I don't want to put it too close to the face. I'd have to look at the what the rear weight weighs as well. It's not a light head to begin with so I'd have to watch it.

Only thing I'm looking to accomplish is a little less spin if needed. Lead tape is a good way to see if I help myself or hurt myself. From what I've seen inside, my spin is not too high but keeping launch up ( the forward weight in the F9 didn't affect my launch) and maybe dropping the spin 200-300 rpm ( which is why I might not need a lot of tape/weight forward) might give me something.

My best hits with the Ping and Cobra were launching 14-16 degrees and spinning at 1900-2100. +3 or 4 AOA and 160-162 ball speed.

Chasing optimum launch monitor numbers is now a hobby. It's a separate game from actual golf. You still have to hit greens, chip and putt to score well, but that's a Spring and Summer game. The game of optimizing a driver config can be fun and a cool distraction from winter hibernation. Many of the guys chasing monitor numbers know it may or may not make a squirrel turd's difference in their score, but just knowing you've squeezed every last yard out of that club.......

I don't worry about it, I just ho clubs and play golf, but the numbers game is interesting.
