I also included Lee and Annika's case. In Lee's case Petterson could've waved the penalty in the name of sportsmanship. If you remember she was adamant at first that the penalty was the correct call, but then when public opinion turned against her she changed her tune.
Same with Annika. Winning because someone went out of turn is bush league IMO. It's the same as signing an incorrect scorecard. These are all inconsequential rule violations that have zero to do with the competition.
Now to the USGA and R&A's credit they've remedied some of these dumb rules, but could still go a lot further IMO. Again, all I'm saying is use some common sense in these type situations.
Yes Sergio is a punk. But I don't care who it is, winning a tournament on a technicality is something I wouldn't want. But everyone is different.
