Putter Fitting

Please do not ignore the club that is responsible for approximately 40% of your strokes!! That's right, 40% of your strokes. At Club Champion, we use the latest in SAM PuttLab technology to make sure you get the ball rolling properly and on line. Using hundreds of variables, we can fit and construct a putter for you that has the proper length, loft, lie, offset, face characteristics, head style and shaft that will allow you to not only better understand putting mechanics and performance, but will also have you more confident over the ball, resulting in more putts made from all distances. So, c'mon, give your scorecard a break.

Wedge Fitting

Ask any tour pro and they will tell you: Of all the clubs played before reaching the green, the wedges should be the most thoroughly thought about in relation to the character of your game. An adjustment in a few degrees of loft, different bounce characteristics, the number of wedges you carry and the spacing between the lofts, special grinds; these are all essential elements that get substantially magnified as you get within 125 yards of the pin. While the driver is your muscle, the wedges are your soft touches that are key to scoring.

Now I would like to have a full bag custom fitting, especially since shoulder surgery. But $350 seem more than excessive.

Worth it? Go to a Big Box instead? Look for "other" options?....What are your thoughts?

It really depends on so many factors... Qualifications, Experience etc...

$350 for a full bag fitting does not seem out of line for my area.

If these guys are certified and have references to verify their work then, maybe with adjustments including in the price would be a decent deal.
A good fitter will always ask you to play the new set up for awhile then fine tune if necessary.

Caution, one must have a fairly consistent game to be benefited from the fitting . A weekend worrier probably should not expect a near miracle from the fitting.

Hot sticks golf in Scottsdale, AZ charges $450 for the entire bag except for the putter which is another $100.

I would take a vacation in AZ and do that. I have been there, impressive. Or, talk to a Ping rep and get them to sign you off on a VIP fitting at their garage.

Absolutely. But, R, in most cases those are the customers they target....which makes sense. The only problem I have is if you go to 5 different fitters the same guy will in all probability get a completely different set up from each one. How can that be? I know a company that tried this with 3 fitters here in S. Ca. 2 sold the guy a fitting and new clubs (all different clubs and specs - even though they mainly carried the same lines) and 1 guy sold the guy LESSONS! He would not build or sell the guy new clubs until his swing was a bit steady. Now, who would you guys trust?

One other thing that must be considered. I walked into a Golfsmith the other day and a salesman had a husband and wife in that really nice net setup with L/M's....in this store there were 4 L/M spots. Each L/M had a Major brand logo all over each L/M. So you just know those Majors helped with the cost. I was watching the salesman as I was walking around the store. After awhile he prints out a data sheet for each one of them. He tells them, "This is what you need according to L/M readout that would fit you best to match your swing". He goes and gets 2 brand new Drivers and has them hit again. They both are impressed and they both buy the Drivers. To those 2 consumers they were fit! After all, they have the printout sheet that specifically said what is best for them. I believe the Husband also purchase a #3 wood as well. The best part that is the absolute 100% dead nuts closer? They have a 60 day satisfaction guarantee! They were scientifically fit for correct loft and flex...after all, the machine (in their mind) doesn't lie...even if the salesman does. And don't forget that 60 day guarantee.....even if the machine and the salesman lie! One more thing...no charge for the fitting!

    Just a thought to ponder

    Bangoman

Absolutely ! You are on the button with the fitting. Sadly most of these are "trained" fitter whom took a one day class of how to.

Even with reputable fitters in the business for years could come up with different results.

That's why the old school of ball flight rules. I had a guy whom will fit golfer with the ball flight. He fine tune all the elements to achieve the ball flight the golfer wants. I had seem a golfer's bag with irons made up of inconsistent length ( not 1/2" gap throughout the set ), variable swing weight but the ball flight was perfect and the distance on each club was right where it should be.

What I meant by benefited from a fitter with a fairly consistent game was, if a golfer does not even make solid contact with the golf ball 50% of the time, no fitter will be able to help his game except helping the fitter's bank account balance.

Sure, marketing 101 says "sell the customer what they want ". I had learn that in all the professions I tried which is to give proper advise then shut up and let the customer tell you what they want. Especially those with a deep pocket............

It's what CC does. You guys have all heard the story of my buddy who dropped $5100 on a set of Cally Apex irons (6-W), a driver, FW, hybrid and 2 wedges. All with "custom" shafts.

raggmann54 How do they justify those charges and how do people pay it??? Are the customers that stupid

It seems to be "the way" now. As long as there's suckers, there's going to be con artists.

Rickochet Did this include KY Jelly or did they get it dry?

… you’re taking the barrel end of the bat dry.

It’s amazing that with all the bad press about them that people still go there. All you hear is, “ I saw a coupon for $100 bag fitting!!” And they clamor to go. Then can’t believe the price, so they live under a rock?

The vanity of some golfers is priceless. The more they spend, the bigger their d$ck gets (at least in the their minds).

propman Yup, there are people that just want to brag that they spent the most money. When I go to the TPC Boston there is one guy like that. It’s hilarious
