I have had good results from turmeric capsules. Supposedly you have to be sure they contain some peperine aka black pepper extract. I get mine from Amazon, Schwartz Bio Premium Ultra Pure Turmeric Curcumin with Bioperine 1500 mg. You're supposed to take 3 caps, but I only take 2, because it's more than $12 shipped.
I didn't expect anything from it, but it has helped my knee considerably. I avoid NSAIDs so I needed something.
Another thing that helps amazingly is acupuncture. Here in Casa Grande there is an acupuncturist who practices in the "community acupuncture" style, which means quick in and out, and low cost, without all the window dressing. Man, she can knock the knee pain right out for me. It takes several sessions to become a longer lasting effect. I have become a believer in acupuncture for pain and headaches. When you see what they do, it's hard to imagine how it can work. But it does for me. And don't over think it. I went in with no expectations and definitely not researching it. Two different neurologists suggested it to me for headaches, after their treatments were not successful. That's how I got started.
Also, I'm not fond of needles, but you barely feel them, and then only for an instant or two. It's nothing like getting a shot. Final advice: For me anyway, acupuncture can produce a hangover type feeling the next day. Especially if I'm getting a headache treatment. It's a real thing. But after several sessions which lead to longer term success, it's worth it.
