Anybody know the scoop on this fairly new golf outfit? Looks like nice gear........

Hi all, very late to this post, but felt I had to pitch in (forgive the pun!)
I have a set of irons from St Andrews Golf Co, yes 5 miles from the OLD COURSE!
George Nichol Precision Irons. 100% identical to ERG x3's.....
1025 Carbon forged and CNC milled fitted with KBS C-Taper 115 R+ Shafts.
Purchased 3 years ago, superb irons.
Great feel, ball flight....
So I would suggest open mould.
ERG claim they were involved in the design, highly unlikely.
I know the owner of St Andrews Golf Co, and THEY DESIGNED THEM, in conjunction with Dundee University?
So a bit fishy, as we would say in the UK!

But I will say they are exceptional irons and easily stand up against current OEM offerings.

I can't imagine a harder business to break into. My wife and I always say we'd never open a restaurant, they seem to come and go so fast, A golf equipment company might be as bad.

Golf gear itself has become a bit of a niche market. I don’t think you can make it being a super niche business. You have got to have the newest trends to have a shot. Even though I don’t buy into the adjustable driver thing you have to know that’s your only shot at selling a lot of drivers. The trend with irons is hollow, blade designs that offer forgiveness and shot making playability. That’s what you have to offer. You have to do all that at a price that beats the competition, then you have to get the name out there somehow. Tall order.

Golf just needs another Tiger Woods and everybody wins. I'm sure you can trace success of the golf industry and even forums to the ascent and decline of Tiger.

What I would do if i was making a run at it is be looking to time my foray into equipment with some hotshot I believed was the next Woods. Short of that, I'd stay out until he came along, if he ever does.

I think it was more than Tiger. The economy was such that companies where subsidizing golf club memberships and springing for golf outings for employees. I worked for DuPont and belonged to the DuPont Country Club ( host of an LPGA championship) for about 50 a month. Golf course pro shops and private owned shops did ok before the internet killed them with low ball pricing. Newspaper and magazine advertising dwindled as papers and mags went away or became irrelevant. The only way to be aware of the merchandise became tv or giant displays at big box stores. These stores just push products they’re in hock for. As the audience shrunk to the golf di hards brand image became the top factor.

ValueGolf I'd be interested in hearing why it was a "hard pass." The company seems to be offering a wide variety of options, directed at custom fitting. That something that many of us have been saying is missing.

A very full lineup for a newer company -- three drivers, two fairways, two hybrids, seven irons. Seems very ambitious. I'm not a traditionalist when it comes to the strong lofts, but if you're going to make the PW 40 degrees (X-2 irons), you should at least make a gap wedge, since their wedges only start at 50. I wish them good luck, but I fear they'll go the way of all things.

I live in Delaware, about 25 miles outside of Philadelphia and I never see any of this stuff. Have never seen a PXG or Miura club in person, the last KZG club I saw was in my shop when I was open. Where do these guys sell this stuff? Philly is one of the largest cities in the country.

Just took a quick look - the woods and hybrids look no better than clone clubs. Some of the irons look okay but mostly just "meh". I would guess about a 0% chance for success. I hope for their sake, they have not produced any inventory because if they have, it will just sit there and eventually we'll see this stuff on ebay for pennies - even then it would be a hard sell because shipping would cost more than the value of the clubs!

I actually kind of like the P1 and P2 irons. They look like they would help this old duffer get the ball in the air. I can't help but wonder though, how would the dark color wear on them? Yah, I've fallen to shovels....

I'm thinking this is the old Element 21 company. I have one of their Eagle One shafts that has an eagle's wing, and the "E" in their "E21" logo is a very similar font as on these clubs.

Just a hunch.

Their irons do look much better on their Instagram account, btw.

e21!!!! Scandium! Smoothest shafts in the world are made from scandium not steel! I had an e21 hybrid that I sold on FGI. I will say it did feel pretty smooth.

Those heads might be melted down scandium from all the excess shafts they had left over. 😂

Toulon Bought my son a pair a e21 hybrids when they were clearing them out at rockbottomgolf. When we went to the range I was rocking them very well to the point where I wanted to take them out of his bag and put them in mine.
