PGA event Green Brier resort flooded out

Not sure if they could get it back in shape for the annual event.
I thought we had raining days in the past week here with thunder storm, dwarf comparing to this.

If there's as much damage to the rest of the course as there is the one hole that's in the pic, they will need a miracle to have the course back to playable condition, I would think anyway. Underneath all of that water is tons of debris and one would have to believe that there's some soil erosion concerns as well. There are several courses under the resort name there, so maybe worst-case scenario they could host the event at another course that isn't as damaged maybe?

But given that 14 people (and counting) have lost their lives because of the flooding, this is obviously not significant in the overall scheme of things. :-(

Anytime lost of a human life can not be compared to property damage ! That's for sure.

The way the weather pattern is going, we'll have years of unpredictable weather and earth movement.
Tacoma, a City South of the Seattle had a minor earth movement this morning as well as hundreds of small tremor off the coastline under the ocean in recent years.

I drove through a thunder storm a few days ago that cleaned the baked on mark of bug splash/road grind on the windshield, which I could not even scrap off with a shaving blade. Very sled om we have such weather, only about a handful of similar storm experience in the last 4 decades.

One of our local courses (Onion Creek) has looked like that a couple of times over the past few years. So far they have been able to get it back in operation, but it has taken moving a lot of earth. Onion Creek by the way was the original home of the Legends of Golf tournament.

Never had the chance to play the Onion Creek but heard of it and maybe watched the Legends Of Golf on the golf channel.

We did not have flooded out golf course here, not yet. Many of the courses offering discount when the weather forecast of moisture. So bring your rain gear and you might be lucky not getting wet at all. This might offset the rapid rising of green fees around here. 3 times the rate of inflation ....... they are chasing the retired folks off the golf courses.

They anounced the cancellation of the PGA Greenbrier event yesterday.

Lost of human life and property damage were much more serious than previously thought. Our president was here in our cities doing fund raising..... He should have been over there instead of remote control, getting report from his advisers.

Very unfortunate the destruction of those storms to property and loss of lives.

My wife is driving on the WVA Turnpike today from MI to VA and will be interesting to learn what she sees.
