What two questions? If you want me to respond to the "facemask" I will. Not sure where the other question is? Laser on Brady? Fan should be banned for life.
As for the "facemask", did the defender twist, turn, or pull Goff's facemask? Read the last part of the rule. Goff is a runner in this scenario so the typical QB protections aren't afforded him. Unquestionably "hit" the facemask. You already know my thoughts on this... did the hitting of his facemask have any tangible effect on the play? No. There's absolutely nothing different that happens on the play because the defender hits his facemask. Would I have called that penalty? Nope. Could it have been called? Absolutely, it could have but I think that woudl be the wrong call. It doesn't specify in the rule but you have to grasp it to do the things noted or having your shoulder pad hit the facemask and making the head turn would also be a facemask, so, to me, there has to be a grasping. The defender hit him in the facemask with an open hand which came right off as he drifted by. Not grasped in any manner. It does appear one of his fingers got temporarily stuck in there. Not a call you make in that situation as it didn't affect the play. This is comparing fruits and vegetables. Had the Rams scored a TD they do go up by 4. The Saints also are 1st and goal at the 5 yard line and able to make the Rams use their last timeout. Do they score from the 5 with 1st and goal? Nobody knows.
Again, you want to argue a guy hitting Goff's facemask while Goff is a runner with an open hand is the same as blatant pass interference and helmet to helmet? Why? If they call the facemask more time goes off the clock and do the Rams score a TD? Nobody knows. Reasonable minds could argue whether that was a facemask, or not, based on a strict interpretation of the rules. No reasonable mind could conclude it wasn't PI or helmet to helmet or hitting a defenseless receiver in the head or neck area.
No matter your contentions the Rams are an illegitimate SB representative. Nothing will ever change that just like nothing will ever change them actually going.
Rule 12, Section 2, Article 5 of the NFL Rule Book (page 81) states that “no player shall twist, turn, or pull the face mask of an opponent in any direction.”
The Rule Book describes the penalty as follows:
“Penalty: For twisting, turning or pulling the mask: loss of 15 yards. A personal foul. The player may be disqualified if the action is judged by the official(s) to be of a flagrant nature.”
The Rule Book describes an approved ruling as it relates to face-mask penalties (page 81).
“A.R. 12.12 – Third-and-10 on A30. Runner A1 runs to the A33, where he is tackled by B1, who incidentally grasps A1’s face mask on the tackle, but it is not a twist, turn or pull. Ruling: A’s ball, fourth-and-seven, on A33. No foul.”
