Toulon That is not always called, in fact, it's often not called
Not fact. Subjective choosing on your part, imo.
Neutral zone calls by down lineman on short yardage=never called unless the center is impeded.
Outside linebackers/backs who line up directly over nobody in a potential blitz position=called every time.
Add in that it happened in front of the NE bench with Belichick and company likely yelling at the ref then it's a no brainer call. Flag is thrown immediately, so have to assume Brady knew it was a free play, imo.
If he didn't know (up for debate) then the pick was legit but a penalty is a penalty.
Hit to the head call was cheap. No real debate.
However, the PI call against the Pats for what was basically hand jousting kept a scoring drive alive for KC.
This after Gronk looked like he was piggy-backing a guy down the right sideline and no call.
KC scored on a pick play non-call that had a direct influence on the score.
Pats were called on a pick play previously that did not lead to a score.
On the fake 4th down attempt (4th and short from KC 40ish) where the offence was on the field and then they switched up to the punt team. the ref stood on the ball waiting for the 13th KC man to run off the field, backed out of there with 2 seconds left on the play clock, then flagged the Pats for delay of game. There were still 12 mean on the field for KC. A first down and in FG range should have been the result of too many men, instead of a punt.
So, the one or two plays you are fixated on meant jack shit in the grand scheme of things.
Let's not forget the Pats went 80 yards, had a completion for a first down call reversed, and that Andy Reid did not call any timeouts for his gassed defence (and NE was not running a no huddle) and nobody could make a play in all that time on third down to force a kick (as the Rams did in OT).
Pats outplayed the Chiefs by a fair margin and deserve to be in the SB without question.
