I didn't test them in wet conditions. It was a bit wet at times when I wore them, but not that day on the course. My guess is that they are probably just "water resistant". I don't see how the knit could be waterproof at all. This is a dry summer shoe IMO.
As far as grip goes, it was much better than expected. I think the best spikeless shoes for grip that I've tried are the Nike Vapor. They grip as well as any softspike shoe I've worn. The Tomos have way better grip than a regular sneaker, but they don't match the Vapor. That said they can be worn anywhere, and the Vapors are not as good in the clubhouse or other off course places. I used to have a pair of the old Eccos that Freddie Couples worse and I think the Tomos have better grip than those. I think it may be because the Tomo seems to use a softer material. That may make it wear much more quickly like a winter tire vs an all season. I will likely only wear them on hot dry days and I don't play a ton of golf so they'll likely last awhile.
I have a Tampa, TL golf trip planned for the end of this month and I'll probably bring my Nikes for golf, but wear the Tomos for travel. If it's dry then maybe I'll play golf in the Tomos, but otherwise I'll stick with the waterproof shoes.
