sdandrea1 I agree, the number that really matters is the number of fairways hit in a round or more accurately, the number of drives that leave you in position to play the next shot to the green. I love the idea of being maxed out for distance, but I think we would all score better if we had better misses, more so than the extra “17 yards”. Like everyone, I’m searching for the holy grail that allows me to get the most out of my best swings, but I’ll trade 10 yards to not be punished too severely when I miss.
I don’t believe there is a “perfect” fit for anybody, even if you have it for controlled conditions, it’s not going to be ideal ever again. Wind in your face? Forget that high launch. Wind behind you, that extra backspin sure would be nice. Slept on your shoulder a little odd last night, that extra stiffness in the shaft might suck today, couple extra sips of swing lube might make that shaft a bit soft to control too.
Anybody ever notice, the majority of really good players don’t know all that much about equipment? They let somebody else worry about that shit and go play golf.
