johnnydoom Hoover Dam is nice, bet water level remains low. When I departed Wurtsmith AFB (Oscoda MI) for Castle AFB, CA (Merced, CA) I went by Vegas and Hoover. Pulling a boat with an old car and wore the brakes out going through that area. Had to stay 2 extra days to get hem fixed after the small fire. Lesson learned there.
Another Hoover Dam story. Friend of mine from my current work, is a retired USMC aviator. Most Navy & Marine aviators have a call sign based on name or action. USAF is less "call sign" for aviators save fighters.
Ted was an A-6 and F-18 WSO--a Navigator by training then become a Weapon System Operator to feel better--we are all Weapon System Operators. Ted was flying out of Nellis and when looking out he noticed this big dam looking thing. He could not figure it out and then made the mistake of asking over the air. (Always say to yourself first before keying the mic), His callsign is now "Hoover". Did I mention he was a Naval Flight Officer (nice wings) trained as a Nav??
