Nice thing about it is, this is the 1st Integra head that is not closed face. The materials used are known to be 'hot', has a deep face, so it is probably a damn nice head. Too bad it has the huge double negative going against it. Maybe BANG owns Integra now, what with that price.😉

Boggles the mind but I guess enough people will pay. I wonder how many of those ST539 drivers they sell at $299. They say it's to honor the 539 yard drive, but if it was created to honor it, it couldn't be the head that hit the 539 yard drive. If it was the plain old Bang-O-Matic that hit the 539, why pay twice as much?

Love to hear why Bang never comes out with a new product. Can’t be a big market for all old stuff. How do they pay the help? Must be one guy with a garage full of stuff patiently trying to sell it all.

When Almo went back to Bang, Chris Fu came out with the Super Bang o Matic. This head did not get the full Almo-Stamey design treatment. The Head existed, Steve and I changed the look. This and the Yellow Big Bang for Japan were the last 2 new heads Bang came out with, and the only 2 I worked on for Bang and then only because Steve was there.

We have a place called Whirlaway golf and running store. I went in the other day...it's amazing...Golf Musuem. They have more used equipment than any place. And here's why...the prices and the shit that came in 10 years ago is still there with the original prices on them. Examples:

I don't know how far back this goes but I remember Monark carrying Modeo stuff for many years.

kelco9 its just a name, integra makes them and monark chooses a name and baddabing. Dtg does the same thing, many of which are exactly the same mold.

I tried to find something on them -- found a 2008 USGA conforming list and a few Mondeo drivers are on there, and the manufacturer is Monark Golf Supply. I don't remember these at all and it's not that long ago. But Yamaha did a Grandis Mondeo -- maybe they were importing them?

It is called "marketing." They don't have to submit anything to the USGA for testing and can just call it "illegal." If a company wants a club on the "conforming list" they submit it for testing. If a company doesn't give a squat about the USGA they can market an "illegal" driver at whatever specs they claim and the USGA won't care.

But I can see your point as to claims about the 'hot'. If it's not been tested/rejected by the USGA, then any company can put out any head with that claim. Even if it is not over the max COR, how would we ever know without having a head tested ourselves. Maybe that's where the 'illegal' part comes in.....making/advertising false claims.😉

Most users have said they see no added distance on some of those purported 'illegal' heads, so maybe if a class action lawsuit was filed against a company or 2, after having a couple heads tested, it would stop that kind of shit! And maybe put some of those assholes out of business!

Rickochet Yea I remember on Ebay they were marketing that one Almo head that was declared non conforming due to a minor hosel issue and they were advertising it as non conforming as in "hot"

Yes ProSeriesGolf golf owns Geek now, and the Geek Golf division is ran 100% by Derek Baer.

The Geek heads of 2018 are the same quality as the heads mfg under Steve Almo. The only change made in any Geek Head is the weight of the No Brainer. It’s now standard 200 gr vs heavier than std. This was a change Steve wanted anyway.

That head sold well as an Illegal too hot for the USGA Head. When it sold out, long before ProSeriesGolf bought Geek they bought the rights to the 551. Steve then had me design artwork for the LB130, a head that was made to be hotter than standard and not tested by the USGA.

Par4QC What doesn't make sense about all these new "hot" heads is that they're making them over 460cc. I believe tests have shown going bigger increases drag which slows SS which likely counteracts any yardage advantage. I assume the extra cc's make for a bigger face that can flex more, but at what cost.

As Par4QC points out, I haven't seen any illegal heads claim a higher COR (I'm not saying they're not around). The only illegal heads I have seen are just larger than the 460 CC max volume.

DTG claims both 485cc and maximum spring effect for increased distance. Their website claims, "TOO MUCH DISTANCE. BANNED BY THE USGA."

Claiming it does not conform doesn't bother me. If I believe it would give me more distance I might try one. I can't imagine anyone wanting to sue over it. I doubt they are putting too much of a dent into any OEM club's bizz.

And if you were looking for a new vehicle that gets better mileage than your old one, and bought one that is supposed to get 7 mpg more, and it gets less(or the same), you'd be OK with it? Nothing wrong, or illegal, about the advertising? You'd not want your money back?

I got a couple driver heads here that will give you 15 yds. more than anything you've hit. $85 ea.. 🤓😉
