candukid Ok guys. What is the generally accepted frequency for a 275 g head on a 36.75 inch steel shaft clamped in a 5 inch machine? 2 numbers please R and S flex and i know that is purely subjective. I tipped my FST -115 two inches and i get 304 on the machine with a 275g head. What is the general consensus on this "flex"?
Weirfan I'd say at 304 its pretty close to a standard Senior flex, maybe a hair stiffer, add 12 cpm for Reg and 24 for stiff.
candukid Peter. Based on some of the charts i have seen 310 is closer to an "R" than the 316 you reference. What ar you basing your answer on? I was going to go for 308 as my number. Getting old. May have to pull some grips and check some clubs i have to see what they are. ( built before my freq machine)
Weirfan candukid My Kaufman charts show 318 for Centerline R flex at 36.75 . i've only ever used these and trust them. In my SL set I went a bit stiffer in short irons and softer in long irons. I felt it would help with trajectory control in shorter clubs and help elevate in the 4/5. This is what i like to build for all my sets anyways ( between stiff and x flex in wedges and between R and S in the long) I still hit the SL high lofted irons high but the the lower lofts launch ok.
Rickochet FWIW, note that the FST 115 is a bit different than most in that it comes in combo flexes of Senior/Regular and Stiff/Xstiff.
candukid Rickochet This is why i chose the s/x I have three charts here that show a 36.75 inch club at 312, 310, and 300. Peter says 318. I know its only anumber but st least show some consistency. I'm going to stop at 308 and try that.
Rickochet candukid I'm going to stop at 308 and try that. I have been playing the FST 115 for years and in general I find them smoother feeling than other offerings from Apollo, TT and Nippon.
Weirfan candukid are these charts all using the same clamping length ? I believe RP uses a 2.5 inch clamp and regular+ or 5.5flex at 36.75 is ~ 308cpm. Kaufman uses a 5 inch clamp
Rickochet toraider Have you tried the XP 115s? Can you compare them to the FST 115s? Just curious... I have not played the TT XP 115 and at $20 more per shaft than the FST I probably won't.
toraider Sorry to clutter your thread Lee... Thanks Rick, I have a gift card to use and found some shafts on closeout. So, I will try the XP 115 shafts.
