I replace the battery in my Bushnell Laser twice per year, at most. Always keep a spare battery in the golf bag. If I play fewer than 60 rounds, usually only replacing the battery once. No need to hook it up to a charger, or realizing the morning of that I forgot to charge it the night prior and might not have it available the last few hours of the round.
I tend to have a steady hand and can laser the target in 3 seconds. Sometimes it helps to have the reflective prisms in the flagsticks to help reflect the laser, but still... I can laser the ground near the hole to get a very close approximate when figuring out the yardage.
And I understand that some don't have that "marksmanship" calmness that I learned as a hunter growing up with the bare eyesights of a rifle, or an M16 expert sharpshooter in my military days. Not everyone maintains the steady hand as they get older.
But I don't miss the days of having to worry about charging a battery on a GPS unit the night before.
My memory might be getting worse, but my ability to shoot the wing off of a gnat from 200 meters is still intact. 🙂
