Tinker I assume they are carbon steel. Whatever coating they use must be cheaper than chrome plating.
Typhoon They use that hydropearl finish on all their irons now Tinker. I think its just a coating, so it can be removed.
sdandrea1 Typhoon They use that hydropearl finish on all their irons now Tinker. I think its just a coating, so it can be removed. That finish marks up real easy. It is also easy to remove. I scrubbed my G400 irons with Bar Keepers Friend and a green scotch rite pad and it comes right off, leaving a mildly shiny satin finish that is durable.
sdandrea1 Tinker Looks like forged blades are back. Now if Ping would just do a bright chrome finish they would have something. They's look good in black PVD too.
Typhoon sdandrea1 Screw that PVD finish...you never know what it'll look like after a year or one trip to a grass range with Sandy soil.
Typhoon sdandrea1 That's what I did with my ie1 irons in addition to stripping that hideous blue paintfill
sdandrea1 Eguller I think it's their new standard. According to their website, its the G400, G700, i500, i210. The iBlade description does not mention hydropearl. Te Blueprint iron seems to be the iBlade replacement and it looks like it has the hyrdopearl. https://ping.com/clubs/irons
Eguller Just a follow up to an old thread. Did buffing off the hydropearl finish on the newer PING irons work long term ? What was the best way to do it? Happy you did it, etc. ? Thanks
