I am currently getting a seriously outrageous deal with DirectTV/AT&T cable internet. Here's how I did it.
I had been paying around $120/mo for internet and DTV in 3 rooms, then after whatever contract period the price went up to $170+.
Even the $120 before was borderline not worth it for our needs, $170 was stupid. I decided I was going to get Spectrum internet for around $60/mo, get some Roku devices, and get either Sling TV or YouTube TV or even DirecTV Now. All these services are in the $40 range for a great channel lineup.
Called DirecTV to set up cancelation. I think this is the key. You don't call to whine about the price, you call to cancel. And it's important to be willing to go through with it if they don't play ball.
They must be losing their asses to Spectrum in this area, because they gave me a rate much better than what I even had originally. And movie channels for 4mos that would auto cancel, so no need for me to call.
Be prepared to cancel the service. They'll ask why. You'll tell them that you like the service, it's just too expensive. Maybe you'll get lucky like I did.
If not, enjoy your new streaming TV package.
