SVonhof I don't read how any of this is any different from my job, or someone else's job.
It's what they've chosen to do as their 'line of work'. Most people's jobs involve a fair amount of mental stress as well as physical. I live in the Midwest....work in heat, work in extreme cold, even have to drive to work through several inches of snow in the winter. Got to shovel before I can even do that! Their practice time is just another required segment of their job.(unless they are Carlos Franco)
I have worked to the point I get 4 weeks paid vacation every year; it will now never go up. Why should they be taking +/- 30 weeks off? And why, oh why, must they(large % of) be "working out" to "maintain fitness"? They do the same thing every day on 'the job', do they not? The same muscles get worked repeatedly daily 'on the job'.
Myself, I got no time for working out to 'maintain fitness'; I'm too damn tired to do any more 'work', when I get off. So, apparently they are lying(about being tired/fatigued), as they sometimes practice or work out after their day at the office!
fwiw, my wife does not have to do all the errands around here. I probably do grocery shopping more often than she does. Run to the bank. Run to the P.O.. Run here/there. I do it also, same as the golfers doing their 'sponsor' errands, etc..
And as a reply to another post, I also work in long pants in the heat/humidity. INDOORS. There is a/c, but means nothing for the work I do. I also have to work outdoors in the winter(sometimes) when it is below 0.
The only thing I'm seeing, so far, is that they are in hotels a lot of nights while I am at home every night. BUT....I do work at Holiday Inn....every day.😆
