Well 65 comes around only once and yesterday I purchased a new set of 5 - AW Callaway Big Bertha irons / Senior flex / Graphite.
They are due to show up at my front door tomorrow, 5/24, .
I'm scheduled to play in a tourny on Thurs so looking forward to give them a shakedown at the driving range on Weds.

I've comprised on clubs in the past because of money, this time I said, WTF buy them.
I'll touch base here later with a review once I get better acquainted with them.

Happy Birthday - and many more !

You will enjoy the new irons with senior flex graphite.

yeah, I'm in that discussion everytime I eye a new set. I've been playing the same used Pings for 12 years now. I'm getting the itch to replace them, and may just go new on the next ones, if for no other reason than to be custom fit and get it right, straight from the factory.

Happy Birthday, Rob! And good choice on the irons!

    Thanks Steve
appreciate both your thanks and your thumbs up on the choice.
No smoke up your ass but without people like you we would be held to the whims of the OEM crowd.

Sorry that I did not buy a component but Callaway designed a set of irons that I had particularly good memories of from those many years ago.
Funny thing - I was actually going to buy a similar set for a lot less from Diamond Tour but they were sold out of that particular set. It would have been a hell of a lot less and I think that I would have been as confident addressing them on the course - But as Doris Day sang ,Que Sera Sera.

Build me a set of hollow head irons Steve and I will be the first to put in an order. ;-)

He said, "Son, it says here you're twenty-seven but that's impossible..."
I'm just turning 65 and I'll tell you, Me and Keith Richard say it ain't impossible ;-)

Happy Birthday and I hope the irons are keepers!

Rob...I had that idea 10 or 12 years ago. It was to be a play on the old Browning 440 iron only a larger head. PING did it this year. I may still do it down the road but, I want to do the wedge ASAP. Also, have a suberb idea for a putter but I have to get it by the USGA. In about 15 minutes I will be speaking to Tad Moore about the concept. He is in good health and still working. I will try and get him on this site. We shall see. The most famous club designers never go on the internet....I will give it a shot though. Even if to come on to answer some of your questions about clubs in general.
