With Oakmont hosting it's record 9th US Open, is it the greatest course to host a US Open, or do you have another course you'd like to see it on more often?
Believe it or not, my priorities in a US open course would be bent grass greens and immaculate conditions with plenty of challenge while not being overly ridiculously tricked up. For that reason I would eliminate any course on the west coast, including Pebble Beach. Yeah, the scenery is breathtaking, but your greens aren't pure enough.
Provided the USGA doesn't destroy it's greens again, Shinnecock Hills has to be another course hosting often, along with Winged Foot and Baltusrol.
I can only render my opinion based on what I've seen on TV, but the New York courses and Oakmont seem to offer the best golf courses for a US Open test. Based on TV alone it seems to me that Winged Foot would win my vote as the first choice for a US Open.
