I'm struck by the differences between the Masters / US Open / British Open......
At the Masters, everything is perfectly groomed, with not a blade of grass out of place.....
At the US Open, the USGA creates this "artificial" course with nearly dead greens, long rough, determined that
no one can break par.....
At the British, the R & A just says, "There's the course, lads....have at it." They don't seem to "trick up" the course,
don't seem to mind if someone shoots a low score, rely on the wind, weather, and bounces to provide
any "defense" for the course.
Looking at the leader board crowded with all the big names near the top, I'd say the R & A has the right approach. It should be an exciting day tomorrow!!
