Here's a little irrelevant human interest story. First a little background. Mina is a stray cat we take care of. We trapped her and her kittens a little over a year ago and had her spayed, shots etc.. We also had her kittens placed in a shelter.
We also took in Mina's brother named Squint (they look alike) and also have two other strays that live in the house with us. Squint was friendly so he could come in the house to live, but Mina was skittish and you couldn't get too close to her.
She basically lives in our back yard behind our swimming pool cage. The back yard is fenced in on three sides so it's fairly safe from predators like coyotes etc.. Anyway, Monday night around 6:30 we were informed by our neighbor that Mina was attacked by his pit bull.
She was sleeping behind his shed and he went out in his backyard with his dog and that's when the dog attacked Mina. He said his dog was scratched on his face and the cat escaped over the fence after being mauled.
This dog also fatally attacked a racoon not long ago, so we were left wondering how badly she was hurt. She didn't show up for breakfast yesterday or supper last night. She never misses a meal and is always somewhere close by mainly in our yard.
We figured she either was critically wounded and went off to die or she was hiding somewhere. Well we were happy to see her back this morning for breakfast. Didn't look bad at all. Just hope she realizes that there's a beast living next door and to take her naps from now on (on) our side of the property.
Oh, and we seem to have a new guy for breakfast and dinner. We've named him Beastie Boy because he kind of bugs and harasses Mina. Anyway, our 3 ringed circus with all these cats is back intact.
Happy Ending...β¦β¦..
