When I was younger and lived in the south, I got used to the heat and humidity. Back in 1993 our AC went out during one of the warmest summers on record at the time in Western KY.... couldn't afford to get the AC fixed, we were in debt up to our eyeballs. To make matters worse - the AC went out in my car that same summer. I always had a sweat towel in the car with me.... and then when I got home - it was just as hot inside the house as it was outside.
I'll never forget.... I took out a second mortgage on our house to get the AC fixed that following summer. It was like I'd found paradise.
Some 30 years later - no can do on the heat thingie no longer.
To me, there's nothing worse than not being able to sleep at night. If it's too warm - I'm not getting any sleep. I can work up a sweat when it's 38º outside during the winter. So I keep my thermostat set on 71º pretty much year-round. I'll gladly pay the extra to be comfortable during the summer to be able to get a good night's sleep. I'd like to lower the thermostat during the winter months, but momma needs it warm.
I'm kinda like letthebigdogshunt as it relates to playing golf now. If the summertime heat is to the point where I'm gonna be completely drenched with sweat within an hour or two of playing - I'm not gonna enjoy it. I'm gonna be miserable. So I either get out early or I don't play.
Just thankful to the good Lord above that I can afford AC in the summer and heat in the winter. Lots of people don't have those same luxuries.
